Massage business pumps up plaza

Trisha and Steve McFadden hope to entice more people to enjoy the benefits of massage at their new facility in the Fox Prairie Plaza on South 50th Street and Mills Civic Parkway in West Des Moines. They celebrated the store's opening with a ribbon- cutting last week.

The McFaddens were looking for a new kind of business when they discovered Massage Heights. They wanted to own something they believed in, something family friendly. When Trisha started researching massage, she found out how many benefits it can provide, she said.

Literature from Massage Heights, a franchise with locations in 11 states, says the practice can reduce blood pressure, strengthen the immune system and relieve stress, among other purported benefits.

Trisha said the facility's prices will allow people to get massages more often.
